FAIR PARTICIPATION ANNOUNCEMENT | Polina Piëch: Painted Winds
Photo London | 15 – 18 May 2025
We are proud to present, in the Discovery section of Photo London 2025, a solo booth featuring the works of Polina Piëch, who is graduating this year with an MA in Photography from the Royal College of Art. This presentation follows a year of mentorship with Marisa Bellani, and we are delighted to introduce Piëch’s distinctive photographic practice to our audience and the fair’s visitors.
Her booth, Painted Winds, showcases a selection from her ongoing series Motions, initiated in 2023, where she endeavors to make the invisible visible. Employing analogue photography techniques, Piëch embraces blur, drawing inspiration from the 19th-century Pictorialist tradition, which was notably influenced by Impressionist painters. Both movements were deeply inspired by nature, aiming to capture its transient beauty and atmospheric qualities. Pictorialist photographers sought to emulate the soft focus and painterly essence characteristic of Impressionist art, often photographing natural scenes to study light and reflections.
In Piëch’s work, nature is not merely a subject but a collaborator—shaping, shifting, and animating each image. Through elements like wind, light, and the rhythm of the earth, her photographs reveal traces of the ethereal, capturing the energy that moves through and around us.
Join us at Photo London 2025 from 15 to 18 May at Booth D12, Somerset House, Strand, London WC2R 1LA. This landmark tenth edition celebrates a decade of showcasing world-class photography and will feature a dynamic programme of exhibitions, talks, and events.
